A wider shot of the Tersa Sphinx Moth Caterpillar, munching on Nancy's Pinta plants. Are all caterpillars plant eaters?

Very good! While most caterpillars are strict vegetarians, several species of inchworms found in Hawaii are carnivorous. Some lurk near flowers to grab unsuspecting insects, while others capture and eat snails. Some even spin silk webs, almost like spiders.

No. There are a few species

No. There are a few species that are carnivorous. The only local (relatively) ones I know of are native to the Hawaiian Islands. All the carnivorous species seem to be endemic to islands- would that be an evolutionary adaptation designed to preserve the balance of natural habitat?
