What is special about a butterfly's feet?

Butterflies use their feet for tasting. This helps them identify the proper leaves to lay their eggs on. Since the caterpillars need a very specific diet, this is very important. If the eggs were laid on the wrong plant, the caterpillars would not survive.

I came very close to asking "How do butterflies taste?", but I knew that you would all say "Delicious!"

What is special about a butterfly's feet?

Dear Mr.Krampf,
I found out that butterflies can taste with their feet so that they can know if a leaf is a good place to lay eggs.
Butterflies also have claws on their feet that they use to grip to walls/trees, etc...
What type of butterfly is in the picture?
Isaac
