Air has Weight

This experiment comes from a question sent to me a homeschooling mom named Elaine. It is based on a "classic" experiment often seen in textbooks to show that air has weight. While it starts simple, it takes some twists along the way that often cause people to misunderstand what is actually happening.

Newton's Third Law of Motion

This experiment comes from my hotel room. I was traveling do some consulting for a science museum, and was sitting at the desk, thinking of ideas for experiments. As I sat, I swiveled back and forth in the chair. As I swung back and forth, I decided that it would make an interesting experiment.

A Real Tuning Fork

If you have ever played with a tuning fork, you know that they are interesting and fun, but they can also be expensive. For this experiment, we will use a regular fork from your kitchen to produce a beautiful tone.

Making a Screamer

It has been a while since I did one of the noisy, annoying sound experiments which kids love and parents hate. Just keep in mind, that it is all in the interest of science.

You will need:

- a piece of paper about one inch wide and about 5 inches long.
- scissors
