Answer:
This is a Robber Fly. They are incredible fliers, one of the few insects able to catch other insects in flight. In many places, this is a good thing, with them eating lots of flies and other pests. On the other hand, for bee keepers, the Robber Fly is a huge pest, killing and eating large numbers of honeybees.
