How many eyes does a sea star have?

Answer:

While this sea star does not have eyes like ours, it does have a light sensitive eye spot at the end of each of its arms. Sources vary as to how much they can see. Some resources say just light and dark, while others say that they can see motion and some shapes.

So the number of eyes depends on the number of arms, and that varies a LOT from one species to another.

This sea star came from the beach here in St. Augustine. There are days when the beach is covered with them. Its scientific name is Astropecten articulatus, and I have heard it called the Royal Sea Star and the Margined Sea Star. It is one of my favorite creatures from our beach.
