Science Photo Answer #840

Science photo 840

What is unusual about this creature's heart?

The is a millipede. When I was growing up, we called them "thousand legs", even though none of them have nearly a thousand legs. Still, the name millipede does mean thousand legs. While it may have quite a few legs, it only has one heart, but what a heart it has! The heart runs from just behind the head all the way to the end of its body.

question

Are those its legs curled up inside?
