Hi
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good material for vaporizied meteorites?
Just finished watching a special on Netflix with my nephew about Barringer Crater in Arizona; what kind of material(s) would you suggest for replicating the vaporization of a meteor on impact? I was thinking possibly really cold baking soda, but I don't know if it would have the weight necessary...the reason I ask is my nephew asked me after watching both your video and the program and we haven't been able to find a satisfactory medium yet! :)
Hmmm. That is a difficult
Hmmm. That is a difficult one. I can't think of anything that would vaporize on impact.
craters
If we use clean rocks, we can use the flour/cocoa for cookies later! :-)
We actually do have a real comment--what happens to the meteorites? Are they eroded? Exploded into pieces at impact? Still there in the crater, half-buried like your rocks in the video?? Just wondering.
Mom here. I'd like to put a layer of kool-aid or something dark under the flour or halfway down, etc. to see if it gets ejected. Sounds like fun!
Thanks!
RE: craters and meteorites
Different things happen to the meteorites, depending on things like the size, composition, and what they hit. Sometimes you can find the pieces, but not always.
