What does it mean when we say that something is radioactive?
Science Fair Thoughts
What household substances are radioactive? How long is a half-life? Which kinds of atomic particles can you detect with a cloud chamber?

Wet paper
I notice that the paper around the uksinite was wet. What was the cause of that?

Background Radiation Problems
So if there is a 1 in 30,000,000,000,000,000 (thirty quadrillion) chance of health problems caused by background radiation, and there are only very roughly 110,500,000,000* (one-hundred ten billion, five-hundred million) people that have ever lived, then the odds are 300,000 to 1 that it hasn't happened yet?
About 100,000,000,000 people X 300,000 = 30,000,000,000,000,000
Also, due to poor health care throughout the majority of our race's time on earth, say that it's twice as likely that whoever did have such problems would die from them. Therefore, there's a 600,000 to 1 chance that someone has died from those problems.
*I tried to include a citation to the article I read, but the spam filter didn't like it. Look up "number of humans in history" in Google, then click on the first suggestion. (by prb.org)
RE: Background Radiation Problems
Watch that part of the video again. There is a 1 in 30,000,000,000,000,000 chance for each radioactive particle that passes through your body. Since you are hit by many particles every day, the odds are not quite as slim as you are thinking.
bunny rabbit bunny rabid that
bunny rabbit bunny rabid that would be funny if you where rabid as the bunny!lol
nice

is some Radiation bad for you like the Radiation in japan?

RE: is some radiation bad for you
Yes, radiation can be harmful, if you are exposed to enough of it. Everyone is exposed to low levels of radiation every day. As you are exposed to more radiation, the chance for it to cause damage increases. Scientists are still trying to measure how much danger there is from the reactors in Japan.
thanks i was a bit confused!
