With Americans producing 600,000 tons of garbage a day, it is important to look at what we throw away.

Food recycling
That banana peel is pretty important as well. It would help to make some great compost. We are lucky, that where I live, we can put plant trimmings and food into a garden waste container and it gets picked up with our weekly garbage and recycling. We are even allowed to put in pizza boxes and meat. This will be turned into compost by our city.
I don't like to buy little plastic toys, as they are also made from petroleum. Many break so quickly, and are thrown away. is there any way to break these down to recycle them as well?
I also have a question about the incinerator that you showed in your video. Do they have a way to control or clean the toxins that are produced from the waste that they burn?

We have thoroughly enjoyed watching your benchmark/basic concepts videos.
Have you visited the new, huge, fancy incinerator in Florida that burns trash? I thought I read about one that burned so hotly, it basically caused garbage to go "poof." (Not a very scientific term, sorry.)Perhaps, it isn't built yet, but I thought it had been.
I was wondering why we consider oil to be a non-renewable resource. I understand that it doesn't replace itself like trees, or even in a normal human lifetime, but if it was made/formed once, how do we know that it isn't being currently made/formed?
Just wondering! Thanks again for your excellent videos.

Re: cycling
No, I have not been to one of the new incinerators yet, but would jump at the chance if it came along.
The reason oil is not considered renewable is that it forms VERY slowly, and only under the right conditions. The same is true for coal. They don't renew quickly enough to be considered renewable.
