Stressed-out Florida Students Flock to Fun Science Videos in Final Hours of FCAT Crunch Time
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 18, 2011) – Florida school students and teachers preparing for the 2011 Science FCAT are relieving pre-exam stress by flocking to free, online science video lessons and experiments at TheHappyScientist.com in advance of testing on April 19-20.
“Students and teachers are letting us know that the fun approach of the videos helps reduce the intense stress they feel leading up to the FCAT,” said Robert Krampf, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based scientist who created TheHappyScientist.com. The popular science education website is offering free access through April 20 to help students and teachers get ready for the test. The site has received more than 54,000 visits during Science FCAT Crunch Time.
“Teachers are finding that the videos are a fun, stress free way to review the basic concepts of science for the FCAT,” Krampf said. “Students look at the videos as a fun activity, and the bloopers at the end are an extra treat. Especially in the last week, we’ve seen logins from groups of students in a computer lab, with each allowed to explore the site on their own. They left lots of great comments. Many students are very stressed by the pressures of the test, and in the last days before the test, teachers are trying to avoid anything that will add to that pressure.”
To receive free access to all of the site’s offerings, including more than 500 video lessons and experiments related to the Science FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test), go to TheHappyScientist.com and click on the Science FCAT Crunch Time link.
