Eclipse Watching

Solar eclipses are fairly rare, so it is always a treat to be able to observe one. The main challenge is to find a way to see the eclipse, without damaging your eyes. While there are special filters that let you watch an eclipse, there is also a very safe, very simple way to observe it with materials that you probably already have.

How Far is That Planet?

This experiment comes from my new "How Do You Know That?" show. How do we know how far away the planets are? Did someone take a tape measure and stretch it from the Earth to each planet? Did someone get in their car and drive there, to check the mileage? No, but we still know how far away they are.
