This large bird hopped over the fence into our garden this weekend. Why would this bird make me think of clocks?

This is a Greater Roadrunner, and it is a member of the Cuckoo family of birds. The Greater Roadrunner is one of the larger members of the Cuckoo family, and one of the few that spends almost all of its time on the ground. My grandmother had a marvelous cuckoo clock, and every time I see a Roadrunner, I can hear that clock cuckooing in my mind.
