What is special about this insect?
Answer:
This is a Wasp Beetle (Clytus arietis). It protects itself by looking and acting like a paper wasp. The long legs and its jerky movements are very similar to a wasp, and with its coloring, birds and other predators think twice before eating one.
They are members of the longhorn beetle family, but they do not have the long antennae that most members of this family have, as it would mess up their disguise.
