How well do alligators see? (And yes, that is my reflection it its eye.)

Answer:

Alligators have good eyesight, very comparable to that of owls. It is sharp in the daytime, and excellent at night, thanks to the shiny layer (tapetum lucidum) behind the retina. That shiny layer is also responsible for the way that their eyes reflect back the light of a flashlight.
