Why does this bird often fail to live up to its name?
Answer:
This is a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron. Unlike other night herons, it is frequently active during the day. Its crown feathers are also often white instead of yellow, so I guess it really should be called a Usually-White-Crowned Day and Night Heron.
