What does this bird have to do with Harry Potter?

Answer:

This is a Limpkin. These birds live in wetlands, where they eat snails, mussels, and other mollusks. I photographed this one this week at Myakka River State Park. The call of a Limpkin was the source of some of the sounds made by the Hippogriff in the Harry Potter movie, The Prisoner of Askaban. Limpkin calls are also frequently used as background sounds in jungle movies. You can hear the call of a Limpkin in the short video clip I am posting.
