I took this photo on a road cut east of Kingman, Arizona, as an example of the Law of Crosscutting. What is that?

Answer:

This is another way that archaeologists and geologists "read the rocks." The Law of Crosscutting says that structures that cut through a layer of rock are younger than the rocks they cut through. This is veins of feldspar rich granite that flowed through fractures in a layer of dark basalt rock. The Law of Crosscutting tells us that the granite is younger than the basalt.
