Another beach find, this one from California. What is it?
Answer:
This is Kelp, a type of algae, but I am really hoping that one of you might have more information about why it is spiraling. My best guess is that these are young kelp, and the spiral may help them snag on the bottom so they can form a holdfast. If you know more, please let me know.
