If you look very closely near the head, you can see two tiny legs. The heron is eating an Amphiuma, a large salamander that has very tiny legs. Amphiumas can get up to 46 inches long, so this is a medium sized specimen. I took this photo at the Blue Heron Wetlands outside Titusville, FL.
