What is special about the way these crabs run?
Answer:
These are Ghost Crabs, and they can run up to 10 mph, one of the fastest running crustaceans. They do that by using fewer legs. At a walk, the crab will use all 8 of its walking legs. At a "trot", it folds up one pair and runs on 6 legs. At a full run, it folds up two more legs, and runs on 4 legs. By getting the extra legs out of the way, it is able to run faster.
