It has been far too long since I posted an alligator photo. This one was taken at Shark Valley, in Everglades National Park. The area is flat as a pancake, and more than thirty miles from the nearest salt water, so why is it called Shark Valley?

Answer:

Although it is very flat, Shark Valley is technically a valley. That valley just happens to be about 12 miles wide, and only about one foot deep. Still, it is "V" shaped enough to funnel water into the ........Shark River, which is how it got the name Shark Valley.
