This is a Glass Lizard. It has no legs, which causes many people to think it is a snake. OK, so it if does not have legs, why is it not a snake? First, it has eyelids, which snakes do not. A snake's eyes are always open. The Glass Lizard also has external ears, the tiny opening behind the eye. Snakes do not have ear openings. If you looked at its belly, you would see another difference. Snakes have broad belly scales that reach all the way across, while Glass Lizards have many tiny belly scales. Glass lizards also have a much denser skull than a snake, much more like that of a skink.
