We had a very nice snow today, our first since we moved to the canyon. Does it ever get too cold to snow?

Answer:

No, it never gets too cold to snow. It can be too dry to snow, but even the coldest places on Earth get snow now and then. Otherwise, much of Antarctica would be just bare rock. Then why do we hear that it is too cold to snow? As air gets colder, more and more of the water vapor condenses, leaving the air drier and drier. Keep in mind that ground temperatures are usually not the same as the temperature in the clouds. When a warm front moves over cold air, the upper air can be quite humid, while the air at ground level is very cold and dry. That makes for perfect snow weather, even if it is incredibly cold.
