This bird gets its name from the orange feathers under its tail. What is it?
Answer:
This is a Crissal Thrasher. The feathers located under a bird's tail are the crissal feathers. The orange crissal feathers gave this thrasher its name. Crissal Thrashers are somewhat mysterious. They are usually very shy, so they are not seen very often. In spite of that, several of them are daily visitors to our yard.
