I found this fellow along a trail at Mesa Verde National Park. The name centipede means one hundred feet, but actually they can have as few as 20 or as many as 300. Still, there is something special about the number of legs that each one has. What is it?

Answer:

Centipedes have one pair of legs on each segment (millipedes have two), but they will always have an odd number of pairs of legs. So they may have 26 legs (13 pair) or 30 legs (15 pair), but never 28 (14 pair).
