Answer:
To the birds, a feeder is similar to a plant that is full of fruit or seeds. When the food runs out, they move on to other sources. Feeders will not keep them from migrating, and actually help them fatten up for the journey. They should be kept clean, with fresh seed. If the food molds, it can be toxic to them.
