This is a photo from one of my trips to Yellowstone National Park. What is unusual about this photograph?
Answer:
Twins are very rare for American Bison. The mother was the only Bison in the herd that had a radio collar, so I am not sure if they were tracking her to keep track of the twins, or if it was just luck. The radio collars are used for research, to follow feeding patterns, migrations, etc. I saw also saw radio collars on elk, pronghorns, and moose.
